NK Sir (as he is fondly known as) did his MBBS from CMC Vellore, and surgical training in the USA. In 1990 he made the decision to move back to India to serve the tribal people of the Nilgiri mountains, in Gudalur. He cofounded the ASHWINI Gudalur Adivasi Hospital and was its director from 1990 to 2020. ASHWINI is built by the tribal people for the tribal people.
