The programme will be hosted at Van Allen Hospital and Sirumalai Health Centre, Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, offering participants an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and gain first-hand exposure to healthcare delivery in a rural and underserved setting.
About the Programme
The Rural Sensitisation Programme (RSP) is designed to help participants understand the opportunities, challenges, and everyday realities of working in rural healthcare settings. Through interactions with healthcare professionals, visits to healthcare facilities, and experiential learning, participants will explore:
- Healthcare delivery in rural and tribal communities
- The challenges of providing care in geographically and socially underserved settings
- The role of hospitals and health professionals in strengthening rural health systems
- Community engagement and trust in healthcare
- The professional and personal experiences of healthcare workers in rural settings
- Opportunities for medical and non-medical professionals to contribute to rural healthcare
The programme is intended to encourage meaningful conversations around healthcare, communities, careers, and service in rural India.
