Aarohi Arogya Kendra (AAK)
(Functioning Since 1992)
Aarohi is a not-for-profit grassroots organization based in Satoli, offering integrated rural development services in the central Himalayan region- Nainital and Almora districts of Uttarakhand since 1992.
Our areas of work cover Health Care, Education, Livelihoods, Energy, and Forest Management.
Aarohi’s Health programme is committed to provide primary health care that is equitable, accessible and affordable. Arogya Aarohi Kendra (AAK) provides outpatient, inpatient, pathological laboratory, advanced diagnostic services like radiology, X–ray, ECG, Dental and Surgical care services.
Aarohi’s Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) started in June 2014 is a bridge service between our clinical and community health interventions in the Ramgarh, Dhari and Okhalkhanda blocks of Nainital district. The MMU is equipped with a laboratory, a pharmacy and diagnostic equipment.
Our surgical work started in 2017 with the support of Association of Rural Surgeons of India (ARSI) and we have successfully completed 64 surgical camps in Satoli.
Our community health model is one of empowerment by raising awareness of the rural community towards the specific health issues of maternal and child care combined with capacity building of ASHA’s and Traditional Birth Attendants and service delivery through the clinical services of Aarohi. The intervention activities aim to increase access to health information to rural marginalized communities and to improve well-being of communities by reducing maternal and infant mortality and morbidity in the villages in alignment with the goals of the National Health Mission.
